There are a lot of new things puppies experience in their first few months of life. Besides growth spurts and adjusting to the routines of the house, it's the first-time events that show them everything life has to offer. For Topper, a 9-week-old Golden Retriever, a trip to the farmer's market was exactly the place to make his neighborhood debut, and he nailed it.

On a September 15 video posted on TikTok by @topper_the_golden , he makes his way in the world of produce stands, trinkets, and ware for the very first time, and he did so good! Take a look!

"POV: you take your puppy to the farmer's market for the first time," the video says, as the little pup takes a trip to the local market where he made a lot of new friends, explored freshly cut grass, enjoyed sightseeing while Dad carried him, and had a moment to people-watch while relaxing.

"Approximately 75 people told him he was cute," the caption reads.

Topper's presence at the market may have been a first, but it likely won't be his last. In the meantime, this good boy is learning everything he can since going home to his new parents. And though he's only been in the world since July, he's making a real impact on everyone's hearts just by being his adorable self.

Golden Retriever Training Through the Stages

Little Topper is an angel, obviously, but all puppies need a little training and guidance so they grow up to be well-adjusted and happy. If you're going to train your pup , The American Kennel Club notes timing is important, depending on their milestone ages. The site suggests registering your pup for an obedience class or puppy Kindergarten around Topper's age (2-6 months) to set the foundation you can build on for the duration of their life. It's key to preparing for the dreaded teenage phase, so it's best to prepare early.

By the time Golden Retrievers reach 6-18 months, they're in full-on teenager-mode. Some dogs pass with flying colors while others develop habits you'd probably rather they didn't. This is an ideal time to build on what they learned previously, and they'll benefit from learning new tricks, doing agility, or anything to get all their energy out. They may prefer playing with other dogs who they can roughhouse with and chase, but every dog is different.

Around 18-24 months, your puppy is maturing into an adult and should have all the basic obedience commands down. They're typically more settled at this age but still need adequate exercise to stay healthy.

Whatever the age or stage, Topper is out here setting the example, and we're here for it!
