Greg McElroy Believes College Football Season Is About To Get 'Ugly' For Powerhouse Program

ESPN college football analyst Greg McElroy didn't sugarcoat his review of a couple of disappointing teams during the 2024 season while speaking on the "Always College Football" podcast.

McElroy shared his "Week 3 Takeaways" on YouTube , reviewing some of the top games of last weekend's college football slate.

During the show, he was adamant about the ACC being a poor conference and even mentioned that there's a possibility they only have one College Football Playoff team.

One of the many teams that McElroy said he's been disappointed in is the Florida State.

As the Seminoles stand at 0-3 on the season, hitting that mark for the second time in the Mike Norvell era, McElroy believes it's going to get even uglier for FSU moving forward.

"They're off to an 0-3 start now," McElroy said. "I'm telling you man, it's not gonna get much easier. Some of the teams they have coming up are going to take great pride in absolutely pounding Florida State... This is gonna get ugly and it's gonna get ugly quickly."

Florida State entered the year as the No. 10 team in the nation. It had high hopes after ending the 2023 season with a 13-0 regular season record and an ACC title victory.

Despite many believing FSU was on top of the college football world, it's been quite the opposite for the Seminoles.

They dropped their Week 0 matchup to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Week 1 home game to Boston College, and Week 3 game against the Memphis Tigers.

FSU was favored in each of those matchups and lost two of them by more than a touchdown.

What was supposed to be a cushioned start to the season for Florida State turned into their worst nightmare, and as McElroy explained, the road only gets tougher from here.

The Seminoles are in line to face the Miami Hurricanes, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Clemson Tigers.

They'll look to pick up their first win of the season on Sept. 21 when they host the California Golden Bears.
