Ex Red Raiders QB Patrick Mahomes Reveals Best Pre-Draft Advice

Current Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has already enjoyed a lifetime of NFL achievements in his short, eight-year career.

But before he became a three-time Super Bowl champion and two-time NFL MVP, he enjoyed a successful career in Lubbock with the Texas Tech Red Raiders .

Mahomes threw for 11,252 yards in 32 games for Texas Tech, adding 93 touchdowns to 29 interceptions before becoming the No. 10 overall pick in 2017 NFL Draft of the Chiefs.

And it was that draft night that was the topic of conversation between Mahomes and Dan Patrick on The Dan Patrick Show recently. Mahomes reflected on the best advice he got leading into draft night.

"I mean, just be ready for anything. Teams that you think are gonna draft you probably won't get you so you ask me the biggest piece of advice I'm not gonna be set on one team hoping to draft me, I'm gonna be out there ready just for any situation and ready to make the best of that," Mahomes said.

Mahomes is in his eighth season in Kansas City where he's thrown for 28,866 yards while throwing at a 71.7 completion percentage.

In addition to his three Super Bowls and two MVP awards, Mahomes is a six-time Pro Bowler, three-time Super Bowl MVP, the 2018 AP Offensive Player of the Year and 2018 PFWA Offensive Player of the Year.
