AI clocks Texas WR Isaiah Bond with fastest speed in college football and Arch Manning wasn’t too far behind

AI can tell you a lot of things, including how fast you are running toward the end zone.

Reel Athletics, an Atlanta-based company that can measure speed and athleticism on film, judged Texas receiver Isaiah Bond to have the fastest touchdown run of last weekend at 22.1 mph on his 51-yard catch-and-run against UTSA.

That’s faster than Colorado’s Travis Hunter, who logged 21.4 mph while chasing down a Colorado State ballcarrier. And better than UAB’s Amare Thomas, who was clocked running 21.3 mph on a 34-yard touchdown catch against Arkansas. South Carolina’s Raheim Sanders also ran 21.3 mph on a 66-yard touchdown run against LSU.

Texas receiver DeAndre Moore has joked that the Longhorns could field the fastest 4x100 relay team in college football. Bond would certainly be in that group.

“We’re all blazers, and it really just makes me go harder, because I know that Isaiah Bond, or that Johntay Cook, those guys are rolling, so I got a roll as well.”

In three games, Bond has a team-high 13 catches for 215 yards and three touchdowns. He’s averaging 16.5 yards per catch. Bond also has a 25-yard run to his credit, too.

This type of electric speed shouldn’t be a surprise. The Alabama transfer won the Georgia state 100-meter (10.51 seconds) and 200-meter (21.19) state titles as a junior in high school. His personal best in the 100 was 10.48 seconds.

Reel Athletics also put the radar gun on Texas quarterback Arch Manning, who accounted for five touchdowns and was named the SEC co-freshman of the week. He clocked 20.7 mph on a 67-yard touchdown that, frankly, stunned just about all onlookers.

“I credit my mom for that speed, not my dad,” Manning said afterward.

Arch’s dad, Cooper, posted on Instagram the next morning, “Definitely got his speed from mom.”

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian also weighed in and said, “I think he got his grandpa’s athleticism. I don’t think he got his uncles’.”
