Oklahoma Sooners WR Nic Anderson set to return this weekend against Tennessee Volunteers for 2024 debut

The budding star of the Sooners' 2023 season, wide receiver Nic Anderson has missed the Sooners' first three games of their 2024 season while battling through a hamstring injury.

Ahead of their primetime Week 4 matchup and SEC opener against the Tennessee Volunteers, it appears that Anderson will be a full-go to appear in his first game of the season.

Last season, Anderson caught 38 passes for 798 yards and ten touchdowns for the Sooners, propelling their offense to one of the best in the nation last season.

This is a much, much-needed shot in the arm for the Sooners' offense. They've been desperate for a receiver to step up outside of Deion Burks, and it's put a cap on their passing ability.

The Sooners were already missing Jalil Farooq and Jayden Gibson. Farooq is expected to be out for months after suffering a broken foot in Week 1, while Gibson was declared out for the season over the summer.

Oklahoma hasn't had a single wide receiver break 100 yards in a game this year, and Jackson Arnold hasn't passed for more than 200 yards in any of his starts this season.

Anderson meanwhile had three 100-yard performances a season ago and reportedly has great chemistry with Arnold already.

The duo put up fireworks in the bowl game last year, with Anderson catching seven passes for 73 yards and a touchdown. That tally would be the second-most of any Sooners' wide receiver this season.

The Sooners will need him this weekend, as Tennesee's high-octane offense heads up to Norman. The Volunteers are fresh off of a 71-0 drubbing of Kent State last week and are looking to welcome Oklahoma to the SEC with a loss.

To have a shot at winning this game, Oklahoma's offense will have to wake up and be able to score points, something they've struggled to do with all of their injuries. If he's 100% ready to go, Anderson's presence and talent on the field should help open up their offense and give the Sooners a pair of talented players on the perimeter.
