On September 16, 2024, city officials, hotel executives, and construction workers gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Grand Hyatt Seaside Resort at the Bayonet and Black Horse Golf Course. The four-star resort will feature 330 guest rooms, a grand ballroom, conference center, restaurants, and ocean views, adding to Seaside’s appeal as a Central Coast destination.

Mayor Ian N. Oglesby emphasized the project’s significance, stating it would position Seaside alongside Monterey, Santa Cruz, and Carmel as a premier destination. The resort, expected to open in Spring 2027, will generate $2.5 million annually for the local economy and create 400 construction jobs.

Project Manager Adolfo Gonzalez announced upcoming job fairs for local residents to apply for roles in the construction phase. The hotel will be the fourth Grand Hyatt in California.
