Fans of Shining star Shelley Duvall were outraged with the 76th Emmy Awards for not including the actress in the Memoriam segment.

Some called her being excluded from the segment “downright disrespectful, according to TMZ. However, her longtime partner Dan Gilroy isn’t that upset by it. Dan revealed to the news outlet that he was not too ticked off about the Memoriam segment because he was giving the Emmy producers the benefit of the doubt.

He believed that Shelley not being shown in the segment could’ve been an oversight, noting that the segments are planned far in advance. Dan further explained to TMZ that Shelley being left out of the Memoriam segment was trivial in comparison to what they had to contend with in recent years.

Shelley went through suffering during her battle with diabetes, which led to her death in July. Dan explained to Shelley’s fans that he appreciates how much they support her and understands their upset, but he insists that the fans didn’t get too riled up about Sunday’s Emmys since life is short.
