General Hospital's Kelly Monaco to have taken 'the cut' after production budget change

Kelly Monaco could have been one of those affected in a budget cut .

The soap actress played Sam McCall on General Hospital for 21 years, but things changed when Soap Opera Network first reported that Kelly was leaving the show because the network decided to "terminate her character." The outlet said she was reportedly "blindsided" by the decision as her character Sam would be killed off this fall.

Despite ABC not commenting on her departure, the network did inform the outlets that her exit was "storyline dictated." Kelly responded on a post on Instagram revealing that "she took the cut."

She commented under her post honoring the first anniversary of the passing of her friend and former co-star. She wrote: "I took the cut. That’s all I’ll say in this moment." In July, the New York Post reported that Disney wanted cuts to be implemented before the end of the company's fiscal year on September 30.

Not only did her reply raise eyebrows but her recent post on Instagram led fans to believe that what happened to former co-star and the late Billy Miller, could have happened to her as well. She wrote: Duces “I’ve got your back and you always had mine” I will tell our story soon enough…. I love and miss you… and beyond @generalhospitalabc @natevarni @disney @hulu #craigerwich #robmills." The hashtags were not added before and she edited the caption to make sure they were.

"Deuces" was a nickname the pair used back as when Kelly shared a photo of herself on Bill's back in a July 2017 post on X, formerly Twitter. Many fans took to notice that she also hashtagged the president of Disney Television Group Craig Erwich and executive vice president Rob Mills.

In a Reddit thread, fans were speculating if Billy ever confirmed that he as let go from the show. One person wrote: "billy's mother said that kelly was told to keep quiet if she knew what was best for her." Another person wrote: "Kelly edited the post to add a lot of tags, including Frank, General Hospital, ABC, Disney, and two other specific names that IDK who they are. Lexi liked the post, as did Emme, KMc and Rebecca Budig..."
