Angel Reese Sent Parting Message To WNBA Rookie Season

Angel Reese said her goodbyes to her first WNBA season before the Chicago Sky played their final home game of the campaign on Sunday, September 15.

Prior to the Sky's showdown with the Phoenix Mercury—which saw Chicago lose 93-88—Reese took to her Instagram Stories to reflect on the incredible season she has had.

The 22-year-old forward has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to a wrist injury that required surgery. And while the Sky have two games left after the Mercury game and are still fighting for a spot in the playoffs, Reese is unlikely to return even if they qualify for the postseason.

"ROOKIE YEAR WAS ONE FOR THE BOOKS," Reese wrote along with a collage of photos of herself taken from various games throughout the 2024 season.

Angel Reese underwent successful surgery on her fractured left wrist on September 10. She previously said that it will take six weeks before she can return to her normal routine following the operation.

While it's certainly disappointing that Reese wasn't able to finish her first year in the WNBA, there's no denying that it's "one for the books" as she said. After all, she made plenty of history in 2024, including setting the WNBA record for longest double-double streak ever with 15.

Reese also holds the record for most double-doubles in a single season by a WNBA rookie with 24. She finished the campaign with averages of 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game.
