In my town, we have a Seniors Adopting Seniors program, where older folks can adopt older animals at a reduced cost, helping move older pets to their forever homes without the decades-long commitment that can be daunting for older people who may worry about dying and leaving their pets behind.

In an image from the St. Clair Nursing Center, they showed one resident named Bob. According to the board that Bob is holding, he was 91 years old in the photo and it included a small section for “advice for the younger generations.” The wisdom that Mr. Bob shared for the young folks was “Find someone to love and keep on loving them,” which we think is a lovely sentiment. One thing that younger generations have largely lost sight of is that love is a choice you make every day. The whirlwind feelings of love will eventually fade, but if you keep watering the grass, it will stay green even long after the rush has passed.
