Police said on Monday that they were looking for a man who may have taken a knife from the scene of Sunday's shooting at a Brooklyn subway station, which left four people injured when policemen opened fire on a suspect in ticket evasion.

The revelation went against the department's initial assertion that the weapon had been found at the scene, which the police later claimed to have been a different knife.

The Sutter Avenue L train station in Brownsville saw gunfire on Sunday at approximately three o'clock in the afternoon. According to NYPD officials, cops saw 37-year-old Derell Mickles enter the station without paying the price, and when he pulled out a knife, they failed to use their Tasers on him and then opened fire from the train platform.

NYPD Claiming To Find The Knife

According to authorities, Mickles, an NYPD officer, and two spectators were among the four injured parties in the shooting.

The NYPD first claimed to have found the knife on the site on Sunday and shared a picture of it on social media. However, on Monday afternoon, authorities took a different tack and declared that they were looking for an unidentified male who had reportedly taken the knife out of the station and left it at 3:30 p.m.

The man was last spotted in front of 480 Sutter Ave., according to the NYPD, who also issued a photo of him.
