Jon Rahm handed LIV Golf boost as solution found after 'windy' admission

Jon Rahm has admitted his journey on the LIV Golf circuit was not a simple one, but things were made easier after getting his hands on the league's individual title at the first time of asking.

Rahm secured his second title on the LIV circuit on Sunday, winning the crown in Chicago which proved enough to see him end the regular campaign at the top of the individual standings. It proved to be a dramatic finish, as the Spaniard pipped long-time leader Joaquin Niemann to the prize.

Niemann ensured the battle went right down to the wire, finishing the Chicago event in second after 54 holes, carding eight-under-par through his three rounds, leaving him three shots short of champion, Rahm.

The Spaniard's move to the LIV setup was well-documented last winter, having signed a record-breaking deal worth an eye-watering $600 million. Having left the PGA Tour, Rahm's defection drew question marks from LIV's critics, and he admitted the move was not always easy.

“I wouldn’t say bumpy road but definitely windy," Rahm responded when quizzed on his maiden year with the Saudi-funded circuit. For his efforts, the former world No. 1 was rewarded with a cool $18 million bonus for coming out on top over the course of the year.

As well as this, the Legion XIII captain was presented with a LIV champion ring, but sadly there was one problem with his new piece of bling. "It doesn't fit right now. It's too big for my pinky and too small for the other fingers. It's all good. I do have sausage fingers," he admitted.

Fortunately for Rahm, celebrity ring maker Ben Baller later revealed he would adjust the jewelry to make it fit. "We were trying to do the QR Code thing that Ben told me about, but there's a little bit too much bling bothering the camera," the Spanish star continued.

"It's really special. I have had a ring before for winning Pac-12 Championships, and that was special. For some reason to think of the ring rather than a trophy, in a weird way, it makes it a little bit more, maybe because I associate it to football and basketball and U.S. events. I feel like I'm that Americanized at this point. I don't know, it's special.

"I feel like in a weird sense, you're part of a select group that get to have a championship ring, which is not a possibility in other sports. In itself, I think it's just being able to wear what it represents. I think seeing it firsthand right away as soon as we finished what this means is very special." Rahm will chase more silverware this week, with his Legion XIII franchise gunning to win the season-ending Team Championship in Dallas.
