A thrifty woman has proved there's no need to spend a fortune on the living room essential - as she gave her sofa a total transformation, all thanks to a lick of paint.

Posting on social media, the DIY lover, who is from California, gave her followers a before and after look at her sofa overhaul, leaving many open-mouthed.

To zhuzh up her sofa, she used a green paint mixed with water, giving the once faded navy sofa a fresh new feel.

The content creator shared the step-by-step process of her DIY purse-friendly project, as she wrote: “How I painted my coach.”

The woman confirmed that she used ‘regular latex paint’ which she nabbed from her local ‘hardware store’.

She explained that she mixed the paint with water - in a two parts paint, one part water formula.

Using the ‘biggest bristle brush’ she could find, she got cracking on the painting, as she expressed: “This part is really fun - we’re only doing one layer of colour, get it as even as possible.”

The DIY lover used the large brush to cover ‘all the nooks and crannies’ as she claimed: “This was honestly very easy.”

As she proudly showed off her finished sofa, which looks brand new and is now a stylish emerald green colour, she confirmed: “My ex discouraged me from painting my couch and said it was a waste of time. I’m glad I didn’t listen.”
