On Sunday night, the WNBA community and the rest of the basketball world witnessed a remarkable achievement by a legendary player.

And Memphis Grizzlies star point guard Ja Morant was among the first to acknowledge the basketball greatness everybody saw.

Morant's praise came following another groundbreaking feat by A'ja Wilson, who became the first player in the WNBA’s 28-year history to reach 1,000 points in a single season.

A pull-up jumper from the elbow with two minutes left sealed the record for Wilson, who also led the Las Vegas Aces to a wire-to-wire victory against the Connecticut Sun, 84-71.

    Ja's bond with A’ja

Ja is a huge basketball lifer who always supports and appreciates those who achieve greatness within the game. And in the case of A’ja, the Grizzlies sensation couldn't be more ecstatic to give his flowers to the two-time WNBA MVP.

Moments after Wilson seized the historic moment, Morant posted a heartwarming greeting on Instagram and congratulated her on the record-clinching night.

Ja and A’Ja both come from South Carolina. The Grizzlies guard was born in Dalzell, while Wilson was born forty miles away in Columbia.

Ja referenced the two players' common roots in his Instagram story. He wrote: "da mayor of SC. crib talk. congrats family," and added a heart emoji.

Ja also gave his big thumbs up on an X post highlighting him, Wilson, and New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson as the basketball pride of their state.

Who will Ja root for in the WNBA playoffs?

Wilson, 28, is on her way to another epic milestone of winning three league MVP awards.

Averaging 27.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks in 51.9 percent shooting, she is also gunning to power the fourth-seeded Aces to the franchise's third consecutive WNBA crown.

As this year's WNBA playoffs approach, it is not hard to guess which player and team Ja will firmly root for to win it all.
