Nick Sirianni Points Out Who's Responsible for Painful Loss to Falcons

The Philadelphia Eagles were just 35 seconds away from securing back-to-back wins to start the season.

But the Atlanta Falcons had other plans. Comebacking quarterback Kirk Cousins spearheaded a last-gasp charge and found Drake London for the game-winning touchdown, 22-21, against the Eagles on Sept. 16.

It was a painful defeat for the Eagles in their home debut, exacerbated by the critical blunder by Saquon Barkley with only 1:46 left. Nick Sirianni's call in the first quarter to go for the touchdown instead of the chip-shot field goal also raised eyebrows.

While Barkley's late error proved to be costly, Sirianni stressed that they're all accountable for their one-point setback.

“They (Falcons) made a couple more plays than we did down the stretch," said the 43-year-old coach in a report from the Associated Press . "We made some plays. They made more.

"That’s on all of us. That starts with coaching and goes to the players. We are all responsible for the loss.”

The defeat sullied the solid showing of Jalen Hurts, who finished 23-of-30 for 183 yards and a touchdown pass to DeVonta Smith.

The Eagles played without AJ Brown, who was nursing a hamstring injury.

Sirianni and his wards aim to return to the win column when they battle the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 22.
