Welcome to the latest edition of our weekly WWE RAW hits and misses series.

Last night’s RAW went down at Portland’s Moda Center in Oregon. Featured superstars included CM Punk, Terror Twins, The Judgment Day, and Gunther.

Here’s what went down on 9/16 RAW.

Hit – CM Punk addresses his bad blood with Drew McIntyre

CM Punk kicked off WWE RAW. The Straight Edge Superstar wasn’t in his usual happy mood. Punk talked about his animosity towards McIntyre promising to make him bleed in their Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood. Punk said McIntyre would’ve to kill him in order to survive what’s coming in Atlanta, Georgia.

WWE RAW’s most epic feud of 2024 will see its conclusion come October 5. Punk and McIntyre are willing to kill each other. This is the mindset needed to compete inside Hell in a Cell. Both men have firsthand experience of the HIAC brutality. This match won’t be for the faint of heart.

Miss – Natalya vs. Zoey Stark on WWE RAW

Natalya returned to singles action on RAW this week. The BOAT took on Pure Fusion Collective’s Zoey Stark. Nattie tried to put Stark in a sharpshooter but Stark evaded. Nattie still ended up with a pinfall win.

This match could’ve been better, if it weren’t for time constraints. Pure Fusion Collective started off strong but have since racked up losses. I don’t know what WWE wants to accomplish with the faction.

Hit – Bronson Reed & Braun Strowman unleash chaos

Reed took on Strowman just a week after costing him the Intercontinental title number one contendership. Reed missed Strowman and ended up crashing the turnbuckle. Strowman speared Reed through the barricade. Reed put him through a table with a tsunami. Both men knocked each other out after going through a wall .

WWE took things up a notch a few weeks after the epic confrontation between Reed and Strowman. These two behemoths battled through the arena destroying everything in their path. This has turned into quite an epic feud featuring two of the biggest men on WWE RAW. Both deserve a spot on Bad Blood card at this point.

Miss – Sami Zayn & Ludwig Kaiser segment on WWE RAW

Sami Zayn was interrupted by Ludwig Kaiser inside the ring. Zayn said Ludwig doesn’t need Gunther. The Ring General showed up and said he wanted to listen to what Kaiser had to say. Kaiser responded by knocking Zayn off with a clothesline. Gunther smiled and left the ring. Sami recovered and put away Kaiser with a helluva kick to cap off the segment.

Sami Zayn tried to convert Kaiser into a babyface. They should add “Preacher” to his name. Seriously, I’m tired of babyfaces trying to talk sense into heels. Zayn’s current run isn’t doing it for me. I’d very much prefer him on SmackDown helping Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns against The Bloodline.

Hit – Bianca Belair vs. IYO SKY

Bianca Belair collided against IYO SKY in singles action. Both women delivered a highly competitive match-up on WWE RAW. Belair showed her impressive strength by carrying IYO all the way to the ring. The Genius of the Sky picked up the win much to the shock of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.

A great singles match featuring two of the best of WWE women’s division. Belair and IYO have always had great chemistry. The bridging German by IYO and the walk up the steps by Bianca while carrying her opponent made for some great spots. If this is the sign from WWE trying to improve the women’s tag team division, it’s promising.

    Honorable Mentions

    • Sheamus and Pete Dunne had a banger. Dunne knocked Sheamus out with a bat to claim a controversial win. I’m looking forward to another banger between these former tag team partners.
    • Finn Balor and JD McDonagh had their first successful defense of the world tag team titles. This match had tons of run-ins, typical of a Judgment Day match-up. Woods got some pretty good offense but ultimately fell to Balor. They once again teased a split between The New Day.
    • Jey Uso and Bron Breakker had a decent mic off. Jey referenced Bron’s NFL career. Breakker tried to deliver a spear but Jey countered with one of his own. Both men will collide for the Intercontinental Championship next Monday on WWE RAW.
    • Damian Priest defeated Dominik Mysterio in the main event. Priest was jumped by Judgment Day after the match. Rhea tried to intervene but was taken out by Liv Morgan. Jey Uso showed up to help only to eat a spear from Breakker as payback from earlier.
