WWE has tried multiple times to make Baron Corbin a star, and at present, he is teaming with Apollo Crews, having returned to the main roster after a spell in NXT. However, before that, he was working with JBL on Raw as “The Modern Day Wrestling God,” in reference to his mentor’s former nickname.

Yet, despite the WWE Hall of Famer trying to give Corbin the rub, it ultimately failed. And now, while speaking to Huge Pop , JBL has publicly acknowledged that he regrets this run and doesn’t want it to be his last memory in pro wrestling, having previously had the send-off he wanted in 2009.

“You mentioned Baron Corbin, and I feel bad because if you’re going to blame somebody, blame me. I’m the old guy. I don’t want that to be my last memory from wrestling. If my last memory was Rey Mysterio and 23 seconds, that’s how I wanted to go out. The Von Erichs were going into the Hall of Fame, it was in Texas. It was a perfect swan song. Then, I came back, and it didn’t work. I don’t want that to be the last. I don’t know what I’m going to do. I have some ideas, but hopefully, that won’t be the swan song.”

While JBL is still connected to WWE via Legends Contract, meaning the company can make merchandise featuring him, recently, he has been making surprise appearances for various outside promotions. Still, his end goal remains unclear, although there is speculation he is looking at establishing a stable across multiple promotions, having already seemingly aligned with Nic Nemeth in both AAA and TNA.
