The iconic breadsticks are part of the dining experience at Olive Garden restaurant. As soon as you take a seat, your server automatically brings out a basket of warm, garlicky breadsticks. Extras will be brought to the table upon request at no extra charge. The breadsticks can be enjoyed as they are or dipped in Alfredo, marinara, or meat sauce.

Most people love the breadsticks. However, most Virginians and other restaurant-goers think the delicious breadsticks are made from scratch at the restaurant. Spoiler alert: They are not made at any Olive Garden restaurant.

The breadsticks are made at Turano Baking Company and shipped to Olive Garden locations. The 8-inch long partially baked breadsticks are shipped to Olive Garden locations. Once they reach the restaurants, they're brushed with dairy-free margarine and sprinkled with garlic salt before being served.

It doesn't matter that Olive Garden's breadsticks are not made in-house. They are so delicious that consumers eat as many as they want with their meals and still order some to take home to be reheated and eaten later.

I went to Olive Garden once and took home a couple of their world, famous breadsticks in a doggy box. When I got home and reheated the breadsticks, they had no flavor at all tasted just like a roll of paper. I never went to Olive Garden again.
