The Clippers of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George duo often received flak for their non-existent leadership skills. Additionally, the team needed an eternal point guard who could run the offense, design plays, and control the game's pace.

Hence, when the front office managed to fill this void via Rajon Rondo, there was a lot of excitement among the trade and fans. This also extended to his new teammates, with Paul George looking forward to playing under the two-time champion's leadership.

"I look at him (Rondo) as a leader in this group. He holds a lot of weight," George told ESPN's Ohm Youngmisk . The nine-time All-Star further added, "He'll hold us accountable. That is what you need, somebody who says what needs to be said."

Rondo's arrival filled in all the gaps on the Clips roster, giving their locker room a voice.

Playoff Rondo - The quintessential point guard

Given his skill set, the Celtics veteran was held in high regard within the NBA community. An efficient distributor of the ball, Rondo's high basketball IQ and playmaking were a boon for any team in the league. Not to forget his soft skills, such as leadership.

Fondly addressed as Playoff Rondo, the 6-foot-1 guard played a pivotal role in both his championships, whether for the Celtics (2008) or the Lakers (2020). When superstars such as Kevin Garnett and LeBron James want to play alongside the former Kentucky player, it speaks volumes of his talents.

Therefore, the LAC's decision to onboard him was majorly met with a positive response. Though Playoff Rondo had a limited role, his experience and leadership skills contributed to the Clippers clinching their first WCF in 2021.
