Kevin Durant Names Philadelphia 76ers Star in Dream Starting-5, Snubs Steph Curry

Kevin Durant is one of the best basketball players in history. Potentially top 10 of all time. And he has never been afraid to speak his mind. That makes for quite the combination.

Durant recently named his dream starting-5 and Philadelphia 76ers' Joel Embiid was included in it. Of course, Sixers fans would have appreciated that pick over Nikola Jokic.

Embiid is one of the best in the world right now and does not always get his flowers because the 76ers have not been able to make a run for the Championship so far in his career.

He will have a chance to change that next season. With a Big Three of Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey along with a solid roster around them, the 76ers should be contenders moving forward.

Coming back to the dream starting-5, Durant named himself, Embiid, LeBron James, Luka Doncic and Klay Thompson. An interesting list for sure. And perhaps even more interesting when you consider the names he left out.

One stands out. Someone Durant won two Championship rings with. But even more importantly, someone who also won two Championship rings without number 35.

We are talking about Stephen Curry. The greatest shooter in the history of the game. And if there are any doubts about his abilities these days, just watch the final of the Olympics.

Curry has won four Championships and is either one or two on the greatest point guards of all time list, depending on who you ask.

It is interesting that Durant picked Doncic over his old Golden State Warriors teammate. Obviously, the criteria upon which this list is made are very important as well. Is it based on the here and now, all time or their primes?

It is hard to imagine Doncic getting the nod over Curry in the latter two categories. But then, if it is about the here and now, Thompson should not be on the list after the last few seasons he has had.
