Pittsburgh Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger said he would stick with Justin Fields at quarterback even if Russell Wilson is healthy following the team's first two games.

"If Russ is healthy, I'm sticking with Justin," Roethlisberger said on his Footbahlin podcast . "I think that he has earned, deserves the right to stay there."

Roethlisberger, 42, faced a similar situation to Fields 20 years ago when he was thrust into the starting role as a rookie following veteran Tommy Maddox 's injury. The former first-round pick went on to become the Steelers' franchise leader in every major passing category including yards (64,088), touchdowns (418), completions (5,440), attempts (8,443) completion percentage for more than 1,500 attempts (64.4%) games (249) and QB record (165-81-1), while leading Pittsburgh to two Super Bowl victories and three appearances.

Wilson, 35, who signed with the Steelers as a free agent and was named as the team's starter prior to the season, was ruled out of the team's Week 1 win against the Atlanta Falcons shortly before kickoff on September 8. Fields, 25, who was acquired in a trade with the Chicago Bears days after Wilson, has led the Steelers to a 2-0 record in two starts, throwing for 273 yards and one touchdown on 30 of 43 passing, while also recording 84 yards on 22 rushing attempts.

The Steelers will host the Los Angeles Chargers at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday (September 22).

I don't remember him commenting on the Rudolph and Pickett situation! His opinion really doesn't matter anyway!
