Reports of dead and injured in attack in al-Bureij in Gaza Strip

Several people have been killed and others injured in an Israeli attack in the al-Bureij area in the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian civil defence authority reported on Tuesday.

A total of six residential buildings were affected in the attack, it said. An exact number of dead and injured was not initially reported.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said "reports regarding harm to uninvolved civilians as a result of the strikes are being investigated."

The Israeil Air Force "struck terrorist infrastructure sites in the area of Bureij from which terrorists were preparing to fire anti-tank missiles and carry out sniper fire at IDF troops," it said.

The aim of the Israeli air strikes was to "end an immediate threat posed to troops in the area," the IDF said.
