Confirmed Zelda Characters Returning for 2024's Echoes of Wisdom

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is inching closer to its official release with every passing day. Once it does arrive, players will be able to dive headfirst into Hyrule and meet all the Zelda characters once again. These will be both new and old, as pretty much every single game in this franchise has brought back characters from some other game while simultaneously introducing new ones.

Thanks to the trailers, we have a decent idea about who will be featured in the game. Echoes of Wisdom, like other Zelda games, might tweak these characters, but they're the ones the community knows and loves regardless. Here are all the familiar friends and foes that will be back in Echoes of Wisdom.

Returning Zelda Characters Confirmed in Echoes of Wisdom

From trailers to promotional art, Nintendo has done a lot of marketing ahead of the September 26 release date for Echoes of Wisdom. In that marketing, they've revealed plenty about the game, including what characters are coming back. For starters, the Business Scrub is back. This character was featured in Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and the Oracle games. Volvagia, a boss not seen since Ocarina of Time, is also back as a dungeon boss. Dark Link, which in this case appears to be regular Link under some sort of spell, is also back. He's been in Twilight Princess, Ocarina, A Link to the Past, Spirit Tracks, and Zelda II.

One of the most popular Zelda characters, Dampe is also coming back. In both Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, Dampe manned the graveyard. He'll be making Automatons in Echoes of Wisdom and was also featured in Four Swords Adventures, A Link Between Worlds, and the 2019 Link's Awakening remake. The Great Deku Tree, featured largely in Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild, is also making a return. Ganondorf was seen only briefly in the first promotional trailer, but it seems that he's back, too. Of course, the other two-thirds of the TriForce trio, Zelda and Link, are back, too. They just serve opposite roles this time.

In Conclusion

Echoes of Wisdom will likely do two things. First, it will absolutely reintroduce popular Zelda characters, some of which may have been entirely forgotten since their introduction (like Volvagia). It will also bring in new characters, perhaps adding to the lore and creating an even greater picture of Hyrule and the fantasy land as a whole. Every entry serves to flesh out this franchise, and this one will be no different. The game is out for Nintendo Switch on September 26.
