Golf putters out on tour this year as players adopt their putters into the bag. One player who has been using a L.A.B. putter for awhile now is Adam Scott, and now we have a look at a prototype that he helped develop.GolfWRX learned Adam and L.A.B. No word on if shorter versions will become available in the future, but I hope they do. The shape is very conservative when you first glance at it, but there are a lot of shaping and milling when you start to look closer.The shaft is of course installed in the center of the head, but there are no holes or openings in the OZ.1 The front portion of the head is raised and you can see the precise milling that slopes down to the rear of the putter. You can see that L.A.B. built up the perimeter weighting as the rear center is more cut out. OZ.1 looks to tbe the same as the current DF3 and Mezz.1 putters that they offer. The horizontal lines offer a softer feel and create added topspin as the ball leaves the face.Again like the current L.A.B. putters, most of the sole weights are pushed forward on the head to ensure the face is always pointed towards the target through the stroke. Most famous is the orange and white DI (Deep Impact) which is still played by many players on tour including Hideki Matsuyama. At the end of 2023 Graphite Design gave us the lower launching and spinning Tour AD VF (Victory Force) that is played by Tiger Woods and others. The Tour AD GC is no stranger to these as it incorporates a new material called AD Shield that uses carefully placed plies of carbon fiber in the handle for a stiff and smooth feel. Graphite Design has also introduced Torayca M40X into the handle of the shaft while using Torayca’s famous T1100 fiber to enhance the stability of each area.Both M40X and T1100 offer stability and strength but they also help with keeping the smooth feel that Graphite Design is known for. The shaft profile is made up of a stiff handle section, a firm mid, and then a firm-plus tip section.You can get the Tour AD GC in plenty of weight options from 45 grams up to 83 grams and flexes from Lite to Tour X in order to fit most swings out there.Ryo Ishikawa started using the shaft earlier in the year after playing his favorite Graphite Design Tour AD TP shaft for many years. He put the Tour AD GC shaft into play right away at the BMW Japan Golf Tour Championship Mori Building Cup stating that it felt a but more stable.<h2>Graphite Design Tour AD GC Review</h2>On the course, the Graphite Design Tour AD GC feels a little similar to its Tour AD VF cousin. The GC has a little stiffness to it but still offers that smoothness that you expect from Graphite Design shafts. Impact anywhere on the club face transmits good vibration to the hands and the GC really lets you feel the ball compress on the face when you strike it dead center.It is easy to load at the top and you can feel the shaft unload at impact and transfer that energy. What I do like about the GC is that even with that feeling of the shaft kicking at impact, there isn’t a fear of the ball going left.On mishits, the Tour AD GC is stable and gives you no feeling of the club twisting open or closed in your hands while the ball flight on the heel or toe miss stayed very straight.The Tour Ad GC for me launched in a very mid window and the apex was very flat and boring. Even shots into the wind resisted rising or getting caught up in the wind and seemed to cut through easily.For my quick tempo swing, the firmer handle section felt stable and in control no matter how hard of a swing I attempted. Graphite Design lists the shaft as low spin and I noticed that felt true as even shots hit with the fade seemed to just barely crack the 3,000 RPM mark on the launch monitor. I naturally hit a draw that can turn into into a hook pretty fast but I felt more in control of the ball with the GC than some other mid to mid/high launching shafts.<figure><img src="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?type=thumbnail_580x000&amp;url=0OJEWM_0vZWTZmH00" alt="https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=0OJEWM_0vZWTZmH00" width="2000" height="1000" ></figure><h2>Final Thought</h2>Graphite Design did a great job with the new Tour AD GC shaft. It gives players the stability and control of the VF but offering a higher launch and a touch more spin. The GC will work well for harder hitters as well as players with more deliberate tempos.
