When it comes to the most polarizing players in the NBA, Russell Westbrook sits right there at the top. Over the years, the former MVP has received a lot of judgment regarding his style of play, with a section of trollers going way overboard in defaming the veteran guard.

Shedding further light on the above, Clippers forward Nicolas Batum candidly spoke about how Russ was being targeted. Welcoming his new teammate, the veteran had the following to say.

“When they asked me what you guys think of adding him (Westbrook), It’s pretty much what I’m envisioning, yes,” exclaimed the two-time Olympic Silver medalist.

Nic added, “When you talk about Westbrook, it feels like all the other players in the NBA are perfect, nobody else misses shots, and everybody averages 95% from the three and 0.2 TPG. I think we focus way too much on the negative of that guy.”

Addressing Brodie not fitting on the Lakers, The 2021 French Player of the Year mentioned how these situations weren’t alien in the league.

Was Russell Westbrook a victim of an agenda?

A prime example of this was Westbrook’s stint with the Lakers. While the nine-time All-Star may not have been the right fit, the trolling, booing chants, and name-calling he was subjected to were unjustified. Russ was also received with severe hostility in home games. In what appeared to be an attempt to erase all his previous achievements from public memory.

Ultimately, Westbrook and the Lakers would have no choice but to part ways. Fortunately for the two-time scoring champion, he would still represent his hometown, LA, but in a Clippers uniform this time. Turning a fresh page, the 6-foot-4 guard seemed rejuvenated, evident from his performances. Thankfully, Brodie could flip the switch under Coach T-Lue, reminding everyone of the triple-double machine.
