ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith didn’t hold back on " First Take " when discussing a player he believes could become the “worst” first overall pick in NFL history if his current trajectory continues into his second season.

Over the years, many players with stellar collegiate careers have failed to make an impact at the next level, including names like David Carr, JaMarcus Russell, and Tim Couch.

Smith has now suggested that Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young , a former Heisman winner from Alabama, could join that list if he remains in Carolina much longer.

Smith was asked if Bryce Young will go down as the worst first overall pick in NFL history. His answer?

"Possibly I am not rooting for that, great kid, great star at Alabama... But it's been an unmitigated disaster. In the last ten games, the Carolina Panthers have only led for ten seconds," Smith said. "Among 32 quarterbacks with at least 250 attempts, his record is 2-16, worst in the NFL, 59.3 completion percentage, dead last... last in yards per attempt, last in touchdown percentage, last in passer rating, ladies and gentlemen JaMarcus Russell wasn't even that bad."

So far this season, Bryce Young has accumulated 245 passing yards, zero touchdowns, and three interceptions. He has a 44.1 passer rating and a 55.4 completion percentage.

Young has struggled in every facet of the game, and on Monday, Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales announced that the team would bench the former Alabama star in favor of veteran Andy Dalton for Week 3 and potentially beyond.

While it's uncertain if Young's time in Carolina is coming to an end, parting ways sooner rather than later might be the best option for both sides.
