Last week, Caitlin Clark set a new WNBA record for the most assists in a single season.

Clark has impressed many throughout her rookie year in the WNBA after exploding onto the national stage in college with the University of Iowa.

In 39 games, Clark is averaging 19.5 points, 8.4 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game on 41.7% shooting from the field and 34.1% from beyond the arc. Following a slow start, she has bounced back tremendously as she propelled the Fever to the WNBA Playoffs, securing the sixth seed in the bracket while they await their first-round opponent.

With just one game left in her debut season, she has already proven herself to be among the elite passers in basketball, earning recognition from some of the sport's greatest players.

Tamika Catchings, a Hall of Famer who spent her entire 15-year career with the Indiana Fever and was part of their sole championship team, recently discusses Clark's remarkable skills with veteran sports journalist Bob Kravitz for an article on Sportscasting.com.

Catchings praised Clark's exceptional vision and passing ability, which may have initially caught her teammates off guard at the season's outset.

“She was making passes here that she made at Iowa, except her Iowa teammates were already adjusted to the way she plays,” Catchings said. “A lot of times, our players weren’t expecting those passes. But like everything, time and practice helped everybody get on the same page. Now, they’re expecting those passes.”

Catchings went on to commend her exceptional basketball IQ and her knack for engaging teammates in the game.

"Her court vision is the biggest thing, being able to deliver the ball, knowing who needs the ball and when; a lot of point guards miss that. But now you see Aliyah and Kelsey getting their touches, that’s just Caitlin seeing the floor, seeing the game and things before they happen, disbursing the ball at the right times to the right people."

Leading the WNBA in assists as a rookie and shattering the league's assist record provides compelling evidence of her skill. Equally impressive is the high praise she receives from one of the most esteemed players in the history of women's basketball.
