Storm damage assessment is underway for residents, businesses, and service providers, and for DOTD.
Many people expressed concerns over the new lights on the Crescent City connection wondering would Francine ruin the project?

Daniel Gitlin, Public information Officer, says there was some damage sustained, but upon early assessment, nothing very extensive.

"According to the contractor, some circuit breakers have been tripped. The obstacle now is using the evening lane closures to continue work and flip circuit breakers that were tripped."

Hurricane Francine blew through New Orleans with some wind gusts up to 100mph. One social media meme garnered plenty of likes and shares about the lights being ripped off the bridge.

However, according to Gitlin, the jest may have been unnecessary. "Anytime you plan a project, especially in New Orleans or the state of Louisiana, you plan for storms so these lights were installed with that in mind."

There is also the project being done in time for the SuperBowl to which Gitlin says fear not.

"Even if every light was blown off of the bridge they would all be put back on and ready to go for the big game."
