Controversy surrounds messages spray painted on a business in Gaffney. The business owner boarded up his store downtown and spray painted messages that read "Welcome to Dawkinsville" and "Back in four years when the circus is gone".

The owner Guy Blankenship says the messages are directed towards Gaffney City Councilman Titus Dawkins.

Blankenship claims Dawkins doesn't live in the district that he now represents and that he was told action could only be taken after a formal complaint.

Blankenship says he wrote the messages to bring attention to the issue.
