DETROIT (WWJ) -- Police have released photos of a suspect who allegedly attacked a 71-year-old man during a home invasion and robbery in Detroit.

At around 8:10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, police say the suspect broke into a home in the area of McClellan St. and E. Vernor Hwy., and stole some tools.

As the suspect was leaving the house he was confronted by a neighbor, police said. That's when it's alleged the burglar sprayed the man in the face with a substance — possibly Mace — before fleeing the scene in a silver four-door Ram pickup.

The suspect is described as a male with slim build, wearing a black baseball cap with a yellow “P”(Pittsburgh Pirates), a blue surgical mask, a black sweater with a red undershirt, dark pants, and dark shoes.

Anyone recognizes this suspect, or has any information about this crime, is asked to call the DPD's 7th Precinct at 313-596-5740, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP (1-800-773-2587).

There is a $1,000 reward offered for the tip that leads to an arrest in this case through DetroitRewards.TV . The public can submit tips at this link . The case number 2408170111 must be included when leaving the tip.
