Braves superstar making it hard for team to not pay him $150 Million

The Atlanta Braves certainly have benefited from having ace Max Fried on the staff for the last eight years.

Fried made his big league debut with the Braves in 2017 and has been with the team ever since. He has a career 3.11 ERA in 166 total appearances. The veteran lefty has impressed once again this season and has a 3.49 ERA in 27 starts.

This could be his last season in Atlanta, though.

The Braves star is set to enter free agency this winter, and Atlanta surely will have competition for his services. He will be one of the best players on the open market. He has been extremely dependable for Atlanta and is just 30 years old.

Atlanta certainly should do everything it can do to bring back Fried this winter. He will be expensive, though. The star ace is projected to receive a contract for six years and roughly $150 million, according to Spotrac.

The Braves can afford him, though. Atlanta has done a great job of locking up homegrown stars to large deals early, so the annual value isn't outrageous. Because of this, the Braves' payroll isn't too bad.

Fried has been everything Atlanta possibly could've hoped for. He has been named to two All-Star teams, has won three Gold Glove Awards, and helped lead the Braves to a World Series title in 2021. If Atlanta wants to contend in 2025, it will be a lot easier with Fried rather than without him.
