The Denton City Council is scheduled to vote Tuesday on the 2024-25 budget, which could result in a higher property tax for homeowners.

The proposed budget is 20% higher than last year’s, driven by cost of living adjustments, new hires, and rising healthcare costs.

If approved, the budget would include a 4% increase in the property tax rate. This hike is projected to add approximately $291 to the city portion of the average Denton homeowner’s annual tax bill.

The increased tax revenue is intended to address the city’s budgetary needs and financial gaps.
