The turkeys won't ever see this compound bow coming. And that's a good thing because turkey hunting can be pretty challenging at times. Especially when you're using a bow. Turkeys might not have the best sense of smell, but they more than make up for it with their excellent eyesight. They can spot even the slightest of movements, and the fact that they are generally wary to begin with only helps them avoid potential danger. It's one of the forms of hunting that requires a lot of preparation and experience. Turkey hunters are often very dedicated to the sport of hunting, and do their due diligence when tracking and taking down turkeys. But guess what? Turkeys depend on experience as well, and if one gets shot at and happens to live, it will remember the experience and be that much more careful the next time around. So maybe that's why this guy took a bow and basically hid it within a turkey decoy. After all, the birds use visuals cues more than anything else to stay safe, and if they think another turkey just so happens to be in the area, they probably won't think that much of it. In the clip below, you'll see the break down of the sweet set up, and even get to see the tricked-out bow in action. To begin with, the guy explains the set up and how it all came together by using a smaller bow:
"We got our Gearhead Disrupter set up. We Frankenstein-ed some zip ties and turkey decoys to this tiny bow. I mean it's a 24 inch axle to axle Disrupter." After showing it off, the video cuts to the man using it from inside a blind. Sure enough, the turkey that walked up never had the slightest idea that a hunter was drawing back a bowstring and had it right in their turkey-decoy-bow's sights. I know decoys are already often used in turkey hunting, but I've never seen one mounted directly onto the weapon of choice before. This right here might be the future of turkey hunting: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DAAEAM9p9XH/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
