The winless New York Giants will be hoping that the addition of a former Super Bowl champion can help swing their fortunes.

Veteran kicker Greg Joseph is signing with the Giants, Joseph’s agent Brett Tessler announced on Tuesday . Joseph is getting signed from the practice squad of the Detroit Lions, which he had just joined earlier this month.

The 30-year-old Joseph is a five-season NFL veteran who has kicked for three different teams (Cleveland, Tennessee, and Minnesota). He was also a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers team that won Super Bowl LV in the 2020 season. While Joseph was behind starter Ryan Succop in Tampa Bay and never actually made a game appearance, he still got a ring when the Bucs won it all.

Joseph has gotten much more run over the last few seasons though, going 24/30 (80.0 percent) on field goals and 36/38 (94.7 percent) on extra points last year for the Minnesota Vikings. The Giants are in need of a new kicker after ex-Pro Bowl selection Graham Gano was injured under controversial circumstances in Week 2 . Joseph, a Vikings starter for the last three seasons, should now be able to slot right in for them.
