I worked 31 years for a government agency. During the last 8 years or so, we got a new accounting manager who started forcing everyone to work massive amounts of overtime. Most of us worked 10-12 hours a day, 6 days a week. Some were also forced to come in on Sundays. We were told to cancel all our doctors and dentist appointments, too. If we balked, we were threatened. Certain people, like me, were routinely called in and screamed at for not doing more. That manager decided to "retire" after multiple people got cancer, had heart attacks, and many people had gone to the Union with formal complaints.
