After missing fall camp and the first two games this season due to injury, a talented young backup running back is now healthy and ready to play for Clemson this weekend if his number is called upon, according to head coach Dabo Swinney.

While discussing the running back room and rotation behind starter Phil Mafah, Swinney said during his radio show Monday night that redshirt freshman Jarvis Green will be available should the 21st-ranked Tigers need him in Saturday’s game against NC State at Death Valley (noon, ABC).

“Jarvis has just now gotten available, so we really haven’t even had a chance to see him yet,” Swinney said. “He missed all of camp, so he’s just now back going, and available to play this week if needed. So, it was good to get him back in that rotation.”

Last season, Green played 10 offensive snaps across two games while redshirting. The 5-foot-9, 200-pounder rushed three times for 4 yards and had a 36-yard kickoff return in his first year as a Tiger.

Prior to signing with Clemson in December 2022 and enrolling in the summer of 2023, Green amassed more than 6,000 career all-purpose yards and 91 total touchdowns at state powerhouse Dutch Fork High School (Irmo, S.C.).
