North Carolina Man Celebrates 'Phenomenal Timing' Of Big Lottery Win

A lucky man in North Carolina is celebrating the "phenomenal timing" of landing a huge lottery win right as he is looking for a new home.

Andrew Fidler , of Raleigh, purchased a $3 Powerball ticket using Online Play for the Monday (September 16) night drawing using numbers he told lottery officials had brought him good luck in the past. According to a release from the NC Education Lottery , the numbers worked their magic once again when he matched four of the white balls called during the drawing as well as the red Powerball to win a $50,000 that then increased to $250,000 thanks to the 5x multiplier.

"I was in disbelief ," he said. "It was definitely awesome."

Fidler told lottery officials that he barely slept when he realized in the middle of the night that he had won big after waking up and checking his phone.

"I was just feeling extremely lucky," he said, adding, "I'm very exhausted but also extremely excited."

Fidler claimed his prize at lottery headquarters on Tuesday (September 17), taking home an impressive $178,751 after all required state and federal tax withholdings. According to lottery official, the win comes at just the right time as he is in the market for a new home.

"This is phenomenal timing," he said. "We are currently looking at houses right now."
