A Navarre favorite for Vietnamese cuisine, Pho 99 Vietnamese Restaurant at 8147 Navarre Parkway, has temporarily closed its doors after a Monday morning structure fire.

The call for the fire came in at 7:42 a.m. Monday, according to Santa Rosa County’s Public Information Officer Sarah Whitfield. Holley-Navarre Fire District was the first to respond, followed by Midway Fire District and Navarre Beach Ladder 49.

By 7:57 a.m., the fire had been called out, according to Whitfield.

Pho 99 took to social media to report on the closure, and Pho 99 owner Son Ba Nguyen declined to speak with the News Journal. While there is no clear reopening timeline, the Pho 99 Facebook page will be updated accordingly.

“We’re very sad to say that we must temporarily close due to a fire,” Pho 99’s Facebook post stated Monday. “We will update once we are open again. Please keep our family and small business in your thoughts and prayers. It’s been a tough day in more ways than one.”

The main damage to the building was reported to be in the “outside exterior corner,” according to Whitfield. While the fire department is unsure of the cause, the fire did not appear to be intentional, she said.

Midway Fire District reported online that Holley-Navarre Chief Kevin Lewis along with Engine 45 arrived and stretched a 1.75” hose line to knock down the fire.

“As a precaution, crews pulled the interior ceiling to check for any fire extension,” the Midway Fire District wrote in a post. “The fire was held to the exterior portion of the roof line. Once the fire was out, crews helped to remove the downed ceiling insulation outside the building. At this time, the cause of the fire is unknown, but there had been heavy storms in the area at the time of the fire.”

No injuries by the fire have been reported.
