The Pittsburgh Steelers will dance with the QB who brought them to 2-0 in their home opener against the Los Angeles Chargers Sunday.

Head coach Mike Tomlin dubbed Justin Fields the starter heading into Week 3, as Russell Wilson continues to rehabilitate a calf injury. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the news on Tuesday, September 17.

"#Steelers coach Mike Tomlin announced that the plan is for QB Justin Fields again to be his starting QB," Rapoport wrote in an X post . "The team is 'readying itself' for Fields, while Russell Wilson (calf) won't be a full participant just yet. 'We'll stay in that mindset until something happens.'"

Fields' play hasn't set the NFL on fire by any stretch, as he has totaled 273 yards and 1 TD through the air to go along with 84 rushing yards in two games.

However, the QB has completed almost 70% of his passes, is playing within the system and has led the team to two straight road wins.

Pittsburgh dubbed Wilson the starter ahead of Week 1, but then injury struck and changed the plans. The Steelers may be taking an extra cautious approach with Wilson's leg as a way to avoid excess discussion in the media about a QB controversy between Fields and Wilson.

But, sooner than later, Wilson will be ready to play. At that point, the Steelers will have an interesting decision to make.
