According to the MCSO, the suspect is Darrell Dewayne Files, 38.

Samantha Brown said McConnell was the funniest person she knew, and she is devasted to hear what happened.
“He was a real lively person. I mean, it was never a dull moment when he was around,” Brown said. “I just broke down crying because I was like, ‘This can’t be true. This can’t be real.'”
Brown said she was never aware of any conflicts between McConnell and his neighbor.
A neighbor across the street from where the scene took place told News 5 that despite investigators saying an argument led up to the shooting, she didn’t hear any commotion until the gunshot.
“We heard a noise like a boom, like something exploded, and that was it,” neighbor Jackie Marie Williams said.
After she heard the gunshot, she went outside to check out what had happened.
“We saw people standing all outside, and we went over there and looked at the body,” Williams said. “It was laying down. It was kind of sideways, and blood was coming from up under his neck, and it was all on his shirt.”
