Sister Wives Season 19 Premiere: Why Kody Brown Expressing Regret About His Family Dynamic Is Good

The Sister Wives Season 19 premiere finally hit viewers’ small screens, with Kody Brown showing a bit of remorse. The season was filmed back in 2022, so most fans have watched the family dynamic play out in real time. But the newest season seemed to open like the last few have. Kody was already crying about how he was the victim and shouldn’t be so misunderstood. For years, Kody has loved playing the role of the martyr. However, this hasn’t gone over well with the rest of the plural family. But after a glimpse of humble pie, could this be the season Kody turns it all around?

Kody Brown is playing the blame game

The Season 19 premiere opened with Kody feeling sorry for himself. The patriarch is still very much dealing with the fallout of Christine Brown, Janelle Brown, and Meri Brown leaving him. But now fans are watching him turn on his only remaining ally, which seems like a pretty dumb move if you ask me. While everyone seemed to be moving on around him, Kody took to a confessional to admit, “Robyn and I are really kind of in a struggling place.” Even Sobbin Robyn Brown agreed, saying, “We’re probably doing the worst we’ve ever done in our marriage. It’s been tough. It’s been tough between us.” Since his 2021 split from Christine , Kody has been leaning heavily on Robyn, placing most of the emotional burden on the mother of five.

But Robyn is cracking under the pressure. She told TLC cameras that “he doesn’t know who to blame, himself or one of the other wives.” Robyn explained on the season premiere that “Kody’s feeling a lot of rejection. And so, I think he’s kind of looking at me going, ‘Are you going to reject me too?’ I’m on my toes. I’m having to consistently make sure that he is not sabotaging our relationship .” Robyn added, “There’s no resource to help with the idea that I’m still married to a man who’s going through divorces.”

Kody Brown is expressing a few regrets about his polygamous family

Shortly before the premiere of Sister Wives Season 19, Kody opened up to People about the current state of his family. For a man who once claimed, “Love should be multiplied, not divided,” Kody sounded pretty down and out. During the interview with the outlet, Kody noted he has a different outlook on life since losing his son Garrison Brown . The father of 18 admitted, “The only regret is just, take advantage of the time. I want to go out to dinner again and want to sit down.” Kody noted he “wants to have a beer. I want Garrison to try and make me laugh because he was that way. The only regret is just, gosh, I would just do that more often.”

Even though Kody didn’t have the best relationship with his son before his death, he is trying to make up for lost time with the other children. Kody noted, “Your life is filled with those moments. I went on a quick trip with my brothers recently —  and I almost didn’t do it. I had something coming up that really was pressing, and I had a brother pass, and I remember having the feeling I needed to go see him beforehand. And so, I went on this trip with my brothers. I went and did it.”

Could Kody Brown be turning over a new leaf?

Even though Kody still has a lot of amends to make to his children , the Sister Wives star could be trying. Losing a family member so suddenly would turn anyone’s world upside down. Kody noted, “There was other things that were pressing, and I just said to myself, ‘What if this is the last time?” He could extend an olive branch of peace to those children who are not speaking with him. Supposedly, Kody is learning not to sweat the small stuff or be “too petty” when it comes to arguments. However, I wager that mindset would have been more helpful a few years ago.

Kody touched on one other regret, stating, “There’s even the regret of the divorce — Meri, Janelle, and Christine — those divorces and being angry during those divorces. Sure, I regret that stuff.” Kody lamented, revealing, “There will always be the moment you said, ‘I wish I would’ve taken advantage,’ and there’s the regret. But see, that’s all over now, and everybody’s healing . And so now we can move forward, and we can just take those steps that create less regret.”

Here’s hoping the Sister Wives clan can truly start over, but fans are not holding their breath.
