Rece Davis and the "College GameDay" podcast crew recently examined the Week 3 slate in college football, giving fans some insight on some of the best and worst teams from the preseason AP Top 25.

While Davis shared high praise for programs like Texas and Alabama, he didn't have too many positive points on the Florida Gators.

UF currently stands at 1-2 on the year, with one of the most difficult schedules in college football history on the horizon.

It may just be the start of the college football season, but fans have been vocal about their demand for head coach Billy Napier to be fired from Florida.

Davis mentioned that it's a weird job with immense expectations. He explained that while he's not in the business advertising for a head coach to be fired, he doesn't think Napier can get the job done in Gainesville.

The ESPN analyst believes "hope is lost" for the Florida Gators and they're going to have to hit the reset button.

"It just seems like hope is lost," Davis said. "It seems like hope is lot against Florida. It's a weird job and it really shouldn't be... It seems like their hope is gone and they probably have to hit some type of reset button."

The Gators stared the season with a massive 41-17 loss to the Miami Hurricanes at home. After a bounce back game against Samford in Week 2, they picked up another loss, falling in the hands of the Texas A&M Aggies 33-20 in Week 3.

Florida has some juggernauts left on the schedule, set to face No. 1 Texas, No. 2 Georgia, No. 5 Ole Miss, No. 6 Tennessee, and No. 16 LSU.

The Gators may be looking at their third straight season with a losing record, all of which have come under Napier.

Given the issues with the coaching staff and a tough road ahead, Davis believes "hope is lost" for the Florida Gators this season.
