Hazelwood School District responds to allegation against staffer

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A social media post involving a school employee in the Hazelwood School District went viral, and now police are investigating.

The post accuses a staff member of engaging in inappropriate conversation with someone he thought was a minor.

Hazelwood School District posted a statement on its website reading, “The district is aware of a situation regarding a staff member at Hazelwood West Middle School and is working with law enforcement to address the situation. All students are safe and the school is calm. As this is a personnel matter, we are unable to provide additional information.”

FOX 2 reached out to the Normandy Police Department for an update on the matter. In a statement, a spokesperson said they are investigating the claim but are still waiting to receive more information.

The Normandy Police Department is currently investigating allegations that have been brought to our attention. However, it is important to note that we have only been provided with superficial information from the reporting party at this time. Despite our ongoing efforts to gather and validate these details, the same reporting party has chosen to release unvetted and unsubstantiated information to the public. Additionally, as of the time of this statement, we have not been forwarded any initial police reports, nor have we had any contact with the Hazelwood Police Department regarding this matter. Furthermore, we have not been contacted by, nor have we identified, any potential student victims, parents, or community members in relation to this case.
