I love seeing local people living out their dreams and having their own restaurants and small businesses, and it’s even better when those businesses thrive and earn “regulars.” Now, a new North Carolina restaurant is set to open, and it brings some very unique dishes and options to the area.</p><h2>All-You-Can-Eat Spot is Coming to North Carolina</h2><p>According to the News &amp; Observer, renovations are happening at a former Tuesday Morning in Raleigh to turn the spot into a restaurant. “Umiya Sushi &amp; Hotpot is filling the 12,500-square-foot space on Six Forks Road at Wake Forest Road,” they state. The News &amp; Observer notes that Tuesday Morning closed hundreds of stores around the country, including some local locations, as part of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection plan.</p><p>Restaurant partner Billy Zheng told the News &amp; Observer that the all-you-can-eat sushi and hotpot restaurant is hoping to be open by late October or early November. Zheng also told the publication that the “Raleigh concept isn’t the same as Ichiban Hibachi Supreme Buffet, a Durham restaurant his team manages, but they want to ‘translate that experience’ to the new restaurant.” The new restaurant will be located across the street from Costco and is also near Wegmans and Trader Joe’s.</p><p>Zheng also clarified to the News &amp; Observer that although the Umiya location in Raleigh will be “associated with the restaurants of the same name in Texas,” the Texas brands are more centered on sushi, while the Raleigh location “will also have hot pot and in the future, maybe Korean barbecue.” The spot will seat 300 and have a bar.</p><p>So, if you’ve ever wondered what exactly is sushi, here’s your answer. Some might think of sushi simply as being raw fish. But, “Sushi is vinegared rice topped with other ingredients,” according to The Kitchn. They add that there’s actually a difference between traditional and contemporary sushi, with traditional sushi taking longer to prepare because of the fermenting steps required. They add that contemporary sushi was created to be a kind of “fast food,” and it’s still that way now. If you’re looking for something very authentic, “Sushi in Japan is very simple and usually doesn’t contain more than one type of fish or one type of vegetable,” The Kitchn adds. So, get ready for some all-you-can-eat sushi.
