Pomsky Loses it When She Overhears Her Parents Planning a Vacation Without Her

Some dogs live with a very heavy sense of FOMO, or fear of missing out. If it ever even looks like you're going to leave the house without them, they're freaking out about being left behind and not being able to experience whatever wonderful adventure you're about to go on (even if it's just to the bank — they don't know that!). And forget about pulling out your suitcase to pack for an upcoming trip, which tips them off that you're about to have an extended absence. That's the one that always gets my dog (and cats) up in arms.

The Pomsky in this video appears to feel the same way they do; she's definitely a FOMO dog from what I can tell. As soon as she heard her humans even talking about going on a trip, she did what she could to shut that down immediately.

On Monday, September 16, @sapphie_the_pomsky shared this video of what happened when their Pomsky, Sapphie, overheard her parents planning to go on a trip, and she just knew they weren't going to invite her.

They were in bed, each sitting there with their own laptop open in front of them, discussing a potential trip to Cancun. All at once, Sapphie jumped on the bed and slammed both laptops shut, one at a time.

And as if that wasn't enough to make sure they heard her message loud and clear, she jumped off the bed and then jumped back on for good measure. Phew!

After a display of behavior like that, commenters couldn't help but urge her parents not to go on any fun vacations without her. One person wrote, "She better be going! That AirBNB should be pet friendly! And she wants her treat!"

Clearly, Sapphie wants to go. Get that girl a plane ticket and a suitcase!

Can Dogs Tell When We're Going on Vacation?

Dogs are smart creatures, so it's no surprise that many experts agree that dogs can sense when we're about to leave for awhile, even if they don't show it quite as dramatically as Sapphie did.

One pet dedicated website said pointed out that they pay attention to all those hints we drop when we're going to leave that are a little bit different from when we're just headed to work or running errands. That might include packing a suitcase or loading up the car.

Of course, since they don't conceptualize time with a clock the way that we do, there's no good way for them to know exactly how long we'll be gone, but just know they're going to be so excited when you finally return home.

After all, that's the only good part about a vacation coming to an end. There's nothing quite like that reunion!
