Tori Spelling on decision to join Dancing with the Stars after 'life exploded' amid 'public divorce'

Dancing With the Stars' Tori Spelling candidly opened up about her decision to finally join the show after her "life exploded" following her messy public divorce with Dean McDermott .

The former Beverly Hills 90210 star is taking back her power as she made her first-ever appearance on DWTS as she begins the journey to "finding herself" again. The former reality star made the choice to take on the ballroom after she made the heartbreaking decision to file for a divorce with her ex-husband after 18 years of marriage.

Speaking on taking the leap to join DWTS, she said in her introduction video: "I passed on this show 32 seasons," and added: "I literally 50 hit and like my life exploded. I'm going through a really public divorce. Everything I thought I was has been burned to the ground. I'm really trying to find myself again - in front of millions of people."

Tori and her professional dancing partner Pasha Pashkov shared a dazzling performance as they performed a Foxtrot dance together to the song Trust Fall by Pink. Speaking on the powerful song choice, the 51-year-old actress said: "If I am going to fall I'm going to catch myself because I'm going to trust me."

After her first-ever performance on the show, fans took to X, formerly Twitter sharing their reactions to Tori's dance number with many agreeing that she did a great job but there is still room for improvement. One supporter wrote: "That was so cute. You can tell Tori is having the time of her life! I’m so happy she finally said yes to the show. She definitely did it at the right time. That was lovely!"

And another sweetly added: "I loved the storytelling of Tori's dance!! I'm really excited to see how she blossoms." While someone else chimed in: "Tori did pretty good. She is going to be one of the ones that are going to get better and better each week." And a fourth replied: "Tori seems really happy to be there and I love that. She definitely needs to improve a lot, but I hope she does. She’s so cute!"

Celebrities are shaking up dance floor for season 33 of Dancing With the Stars. The competition series launched its latest episode on Tuesday evening. The brand new cast of contestants includes Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik , fake socialite Anna Delvey , Tori Spelling, Eric Roberts, reality star Phaedra Parks, rugby player Ilona Maher, NBA player Dwight Howard and more.

Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough are back again to emcee the show while Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli are on hand to judge the dancers. The stars shimmied on stage on the ABC series to music genres such as jive, salsa, cha-cha and the foxtrot.
