    Two men shot in Richmond’s Southside within hours of each other

    RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Two men are fighting for their lives after they were shot in Richmond’s Southside in two separate incidents on Tuesday.

    The Richmond Police Department is investigating two unrelated shootings that took place in Richmond on Tuesday, Sept. 17, within hours of each other.

    The first shooting took place at about 2:46 p.m. in the 400 block of E. 37th Street. According to police, officers arrived at the scene and found a man who had been shot.

    Police responded to report of a second shooting at 7:06 p.m., less than five hours later. Officers found a man at 2201 Richmond Highway — which appears to be a S & S Fast Mart & Deli — who had been shot.

    A police spokesperson told 8News that witnesses at this scene said they do not believe the man was shot there. At this time, investigators are working to determine where the shooting took place.

    Both men have injuries that are considered life-threatening.

    No other information is available at this time.

    Not sure why people find this surprising. Richmond has been known as one of the leading cities in the state when it comes to murders in the past two decades. If you value yourself and your family you’d get out as soon as you can.
