A WALMART shopper has urged the retailer to take a page out of a rival by offering a new cart to its customers.

The piece of kit would transform the shopping process for customers as they would have the option of not using a self-checkout kiosk to pay for goods.

Walmart offers Scan-and-Go technology to its shoppers – a system designed to expedite the checkout process – but a customer recommended a new tool already seen at other retailers.

The shopper posted on X Walmart should roll out a cart that has become synonymous with Kroger.

“You need to take one from Kroger and invent your own version,” they said.

“Spark shoppers could get things done fast if you had one of these because they could cash out right on the cart.”

Kroger has rolled out its Kro-Go carts, which are buggies that allow shoppers to scan and bag items as they wander up and down aisles.

All shoppers have to do is put their bags in the cart before going about their business.

The buggy comes with scales so customers can weigh items such as fruit and vegetables.

Shoppers can pay for their groceries on the cart – meaning they don’t have to stand in a self-checkout line or wait for a traditional checkout.

One of the perks of Kro-Go carts is that shoppers can keep an eye on how much they spend throughout their shopping experience.

They are not met with the shock of potentially being caught out with an expensive receipt.

Kroger bosses warned that some items cannot be bought when customers use the Kro-Go carts.

Shoppers may have to show ID when they’re trying to buy alcohol to prove they are not underage.

Over-the-counter pharmacy drugs and tobacco items cannot also be bought.

And, there is no option to pay for items via cash.

The U.S. Sun has previously reported how new Kroger carts have appeared in some of the chain’s stores.

Eagle-eyed shoppers have pointed out that some carts do not have bottoms.

And the missing feature has sparked curiosity – leaving shoppers puzzled about where they will be able to put cases of water and other drinks.

Meanwhile, Walmart continues to come under fire over its carts and payment policies.

The chain has started to roll out a new buggy known as Carolines Cart, which can help disabled shoppers.

While the move has been welcomed by some, others have been left with concerns.

Shoppers have noted that the new cart might not be available to all customers when they need one.

Walmart is one of the few retailers that does not offer Apple Pay to its shoppers.

The popular supermarket chain, which has thousands of stores across the nation, offers an alternative payment method.

Customers can use the Walmart Pay app to pay for groceries.

This means they can leave their physical cards at home or in their wallets.

But shoppers have claimed they’ve been forced to abandon carts after being caught out at the checkout.

One shopper claimed they had to leave behind their cart which contained more than $400 worth of items.

Walmart CEO Doug McMillon said he would like all customers to use the Walmart Pay feature while in stores.

Why doesn't Walmart offer Apple Pay?

CEO of Walmart Doug McMillon has revealed why stores don't offer Apple Pay on Stratechery with Ben Thompson.

Though using Apple Pay at the retailer has been an ongoing conversation, McMillon emphasized that "We would like to have the customers open our app in the store all the time."

The app can be used to help find items in the store, but it can also be used to pay for your purchases.

"That’s one of the things that we would like people to use our app for," he said.
