Whittier police are searching for a group of home invasion robbers who held a family at gunpoint and stole thousands of dollars in cash that was being kept inside the house.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at a home on Leffingwell Avenue. When police arrived, the suspects were gone and officers found three adults and two children inside the house.

They found a female suffering from a minor injury to the head and she stated that two suspects had entered into the home and demanded money from her,” Officer Emily Armstrong with the Whittier Police Department told KNX News Pete Demetriou.

The robbers left with $35,000 in cash and other items. They were seen getting into a black sedan that had a getaway driver.

Detectives believe the family was targeted.
