13 Reasons Your Relationship Isn't Working

Being in a relationship is a big commitment. It takes a lot of time and energy to be invested to flourish and be successful. However, over time, unfortunately, people do fall out of love. Here are some of the top reasons why.

Not Saying I Love You

When being in a committed relationship, there comes a time when “I love you” is said. When someone stops saying that, it indicates that love has left the relationship.

Not Being Present

An easy way to tell someone who has lost the love in a relationship is how present they are. If they can’t take the time to listen to you and your thoughts, issues, or plans, they are no longer present in your relationship.

No More Attention

Attention is one of the critical indicators of someone having an interest in a relationship. If they aren’t giving compliments or holding your hand in public anymore, chances are they have started to check out of the relationship.

No More Effort

When things become more of a nuisance, and they have slowly stopped putting in the effort to do nice things or help out, chances are that they are no longer interested. Love takes a lot of continual effort.

Not Coming First

When being in a relationship, your partner needs to come first. Yes, there are times when family or friends must go first, but your partner should be your number one.

Lack of Respect

Respect needs to be shown on both sides. If one person doesn’t respect the other, then there is no way that the relationship will last or even be a healthy one in the long run.

Lack of Intimacy

In a relationship, being intimate is something that comes with being someone. Being intimate can come emotionally or physically, and if it is lacking or hesitancy, it can be a sign that love is no longer present.

Lack of Communication

Communication is critical when forming any type of relationship. If the communication starts to dwindle and there is a need for more interest in being transparent with your partner, this can be a warning sign.

Never Being Supportive

Being supportive of your partner shows your interest in them and their interest and goals. When someone is constantly not supportive, it can be a drag on the relationship and hurt.

When it Becomes a Chore

It can damage a relationship when things start to feel like an obligation rather than something you are excited to do. Relationships are supposed to be fun-loving, and you feel like you want to go out of your way to do nice things for your partner.

Walking on Eggshells

When you are in love with someone, things should flow naturally. Yes, there might be a bit of butterflies and nerves. However, you shouldn’t feel like you are changing who you are to be with the person or feel like you are walking on eggshells around them.

Feeling Like a Parent

Being with someone means you want to start a life together and see a future together. However, it won't be sustainable when the future consists of one person doing everything for the other. No one should feel like they are taking care of a child.

No Trust

You should be able to trust the person you are committed to. If you are constantly second-guessing what they are doing and who they are with, this is different from how a healthy relationship is supposed to be. It is not based on love.
